Ruthenium is a hard, brittle and light gray multivalent rare metal element, the chemical symbol Ru, is a member of platinum group metals. The content in the earth's crust is only one part per billion. It is one of the rarest metals. Ruthenium is very stable in nature and has strong corrosion resistance. It can resist hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid and aqua regia at room temperature.Ruthenium has stable properties and strong corrosion resistance. Ruthenium is often used as a catalyst.
Ruthenium is an excellent catalyst for hydrogenation, isomerization, oxidation, and reforming reactions. Pure metal ruthenium has very few uses. It is an effective hardener for platinum and palladium. Use it to make electrical contact alloys, as well as hard-ground hard alloys.
